Not Gone But Not the Same

In a recent issue of The Hungover Gourmet the topic of 'Gone But Not Forgotten' restaurants was discussed, but Bill Crider brings up an interesting issue in this installment of his terrific Pop Culture Magazine blog: the restaurant that's not gone but not the same.

I always think of Roy Rogers and Howard Johnson's when this topic comes up. Both places are still around but most bare a passing resemblance to the eateries of my youth. Though, when I find a Roys that still does a Double R Bar Burger right it transports me right back to a gentler time filled with twinight doubleheaders and USFL games at Philly's Veterans Stadium.
