It Takes a Tough Man to Place a Tender Drink Order

Former Maryland State Senator Tommy Bromwell was accused – along with his wife – back in 2005 of accepting bribes from the head of a construction firm looking to secure contracts worth millions of dollars. The news shook Annapolis to its core, including then-governor Robert Ehrlich who had been a political ally of Bromwell's during his tenure.

Though Bromwell's trial has been pushed from a spring start date to a date this fall, that hasn't stopped local reporters from kicking him while he's down.

In today's Sun, columnist Laura Vozzella takes Bromwell to task for his dinner drink order of "a Crown Royal Manhattan Reserve on the rocks with a splash of cherry juice" according to FBI transcripts.

Isn't the guy in enough hot water without columnists trashing his drink order?

I have to say that a CRMR on the rocks w/ a splash of cherry juice sounds absolutely delicious to me....
