FOOD COURT: Woman Accused of Placing Rat in Food

If you're going to try and extort food from a restaurant, at least do your homework.

Debbie Miller of Appleton, Wisconsin claimed she found a rat in her lunch at an upscale eatery. She threatened to report the event to the media unless the owners paid her $500,000.00 – probably the first sign that something with her claim was amiss.

The restaurant turned the rat over to their insurance company who identified it as a white lab rat which had been cooked in a microwave. Alas, the restaurant uses no microwaves in their cooking.

Miller was charged Monday with one count of felony extortion, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 3-1/2 years.
