Federal authorities are warning people not to eat chicken or turkey pot pies because of a suspected salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 100 people in dozens of states.

I saw on the news today that it was confirmed that the Swanson pot pies were responsible for the outbreak. Yuk.

I don't eat many potpies anymore - the things are LOADED with calories, fat, sodium. But if I change my mind I'll definitely avoid the Swanson brand! My opinion on pot pies: If one is going to eat a frozen pot pie then just go all out and get a Marie Callender's Pot Pie. Yep, fattening and high in sodium, but at least it's more than just edible.

Yeah, the Marie Callendar's are the way to go. I'd never had one until years ago when my mother sent me home from a dinner visit with a frozen food care package. Inside was a Marie Callendar pot pie. I popped it in a few weeks later and about halfway through I started feeling woozy. I fished the box out of the trash and almost passed out when I saw how much fat and calories it packed.
