Baltimore's Top Restaurants

Picked up the 'Food Issue' of Baltimore magazine yesterday which features chats with some chefs, a restaurant owner roundtable, etc. One feature is their critics' list of the 12 favorite restaurants. I'm always wary of such lists since they invariably stock them with fine dining joints that I'm not likely to frequent. Surprisingly, this list features a couple places I've been to and thoroughly enjoyed as well as a few eateries I'll be adding to my list of places to visit.

The list:
- Abacrombie Fine Food (58 W Biddle Street)
- The Brewer's Art (1106 N. Charles)
- Andy Nelson's Barbecue (11007 York Rd., Cockeysville and one of my area faves!)
- Chameleon Cafe (4341 Harford Road)
- Charleston (1000 Lancaster Street)
- The Helmand (806 N. Charles, going back here next week)
- Peter's Inn (504 S. Ann Street)
- Metropolitan (169 West Street, Annapolis)
- Pazo (1425 Aliceanna Street)
- The Prime Rib (1101 N. Calvert Street)
- Samos (600 Oldham Street)
- Tersiguel's (8293 Main Street, Ellicott City)

Though I've had Resurrection Ale at various places around town, I was only to the Brewer's Art once, to drink, and have to admit that I was less than thrilled with the atmosphere. However, several people have subsequently told me that was because I didn't sit downstairs, so I'm willing to give it another go some time.

My goal is to try every place on the list before I leave Charm City. We went to Chameleon Cafe on Saturday night and it was amazingly great. Fresh, local produce, local meat, regional recipes all down to perfection. A new favorite...
