A Heaping Helping of Food on a Stick

I haven't been to the Maryland State Fair for the last few years simply because it tends to either land the week of or the week after our summer vacation to OBX. I know, I should be able to make it if it's the week after, but having spent the entire vacation eating and drinking, my body is generally way past the point of wanting to tackle such culinary delights as Deep Fried Twinkies, Deep Fried Oreos, Boardwalk Fries and other greasy concoctions.

So I have to live vicariously through things like the video below which comes to us from the good people at Belly DuJour. The Minnesota State Fair is known far and wide for its groundbreaking use of sticks as a combination food transport and utensil of sorts. This year, in fact, they offered nearly 60 (!) types of food-on-a-stick for adventurous eaters to try. Prepare to be amazed...

My favorite is the alligator on a stick. And that stuff they call "cotton candy". I looked it up...they spin sugar into a soft, pillowy consistency and then kids eat it. Crazy.
