I'm not sure if I'm amused or sickened by this article about the contestants in the Big Tex Choice Awards at the Texas State Fair. All I know is, I gained two pounds just reading about the Deep Fried Latte.
Follow Up: Here's an article about Deep Fried Coke, in case anybody else was wondering just what the hell that was.

When will the "deep fried on a stick" fad pass? It really has overstayed its welcome. Instead of actually trying to make something deep fried that could actually taste good, it seems as if people are just trying to out-gross each other.
Nothing against fried food - it certainly has its place (chicken fried steak, fried tofu appetizers, the standard Chik-Fil-A sandwich), but it's time to start some new food fad already.
The question is, what will it be?
Fried coke?!? How on earth did I miss that?
I must admit that I rather enjoyed the Deep Fried Oreos I had a few years ago at the State Fair, but you're right. The whole Deep Fried Genre is starting to remind me of 'The Simpsons' where Moe buys the giant deep fryer from the US government so he can deep fry the entire meal, including the tray and bottle.
As for *what* the new trend will be, there's probably some think tank somewhere trying to decide just that.
Here's the info about the Deep Fried Coke.
